After her parents died, Marianne was taken in by her parent's best friend, who quickly filled the role of a mother and a strong figure in her life. This woman was the leader of her sect in the rebellion and wentt by the moniker of "Ghost". After she was killed in action, Marianne took up the mantle of "Ghost" instead, along with her adoptive mother's weapon, a glowing scythe imbued with the power of shadow. Ghost may be hot-headed and trigger-happy, but she is also a great strategist and confident leader.

Ghost is a Phantom type with the primary ability to control and travel through shadows. Their scythe serves as a conduit and allows her to convert shadows into physical form to attack others in melee conbat. Her primary strategy in fighting is evasion focused, allowing her to gracefully dodge most attacks before going in for the kill.

Ghost is representative of grief and attachment to the past. As someone who was named after a dead member of my family myself, I sometimes feel guilt for changing my name when I transitioned. So the idea of someone willingly taking on the name of someone who meant so much to them is appealing to me.

Relationships

Crystal is her girlfriend and, in her words, her "better half". The two sometimes butt heads, but at the end of the day opposites attract. Hendrick and Diana are her closest friends who she's known since childhood, and the three of them make a great team on rebel missions. Ghost is initially very distrustful of Daniel, but leards to respect and trust him.

Her relationship with her twin, Wyn is complicated, to say the least. She was raised believing him to be dead. At first she was overjoyed to learn he was alive, but upon realizing how far he had fallen into a spiral of hate they became disheartened.

Design Notes

  • Her left eye is red and her right eye is purple.
  • They have ear piercings on her left ear, but its okay to leave them out for simplicity's sake.
  • She primarily wears dark colors with red accents, in a mirror of her twin. She prefers to dress more androgynous or masculine. Their hair is almost always tied up.
  • They are almost always covered in scratches and bruises from rough housing and training, usually covered with bandages. Feel free to add them wherever!

    • AUs and Alternate Designs

    I have a bajillion different AUs for her, but main ones are the swap AU and the peculiar AU.

    Swap AU: Ghost and Wyn swap roles in the story, with Ghost being taken in by their aunt instead of Wyn. In this AU, she takes up the role of the villain and Crystal's rival. She never takes up the Ghost name in this, going by just Marianne instead.

    Peculiar Au: set in the Miss Peregrine's universe. Her peculiarity allows her to control shadow puppets and give them physical form to attack others.
