Daniel "Void" [Redacted]
he/they - Artificial - ISTJ - demisexual
cw: child abuse, government experimentation, ableism
When Daniel was a little kid, before he awakened his abilities, he volunteered to join a military experiment in exchange for room and board. This experiment involved developoing artificial powers in children for the purpose of [REDACTED]. Daniel was part of Project VOID, and the only successful test subject. They became a highly skilled assassin for the government. At one point he was considered to be a potential heir to the Shard dynasty, until he was maimed in a duel with Wyn. He doesn't remember his birth name and ended up picking the name "Daniel" for themself.
Daniel seems to be extremely stoic and brooding at first, but the truth is they are just incredibly shy and awkward. He struggle with communicating how he feels and prefers to stay quiet instead of stumbling over his words and embarassing himself. As he forms deeper bonds with the rebels and leaves behind his assassin past, he becomes more confident in himself. Daniel has the ability to steal powers from others. After an ability has been used on himm, he can then use it for himself. The more damage he sustains, the more energy he can expend in his own abilities.
Daniel is a representation of my experiences with autism, although he is closer to having hyperempathy whereas I am on the low empathy side. Namely, I often feel things strongly but struggle to voice how I feel. I also have bad RBF...

Relationships
Daniel is extremely close with Beowulf and Chimera, having been comrades for nearly half a decade. He feels special kinship with Chimera because of their similar backgrounds. Daniel has a crush on Crystal, mostly because of an attatchement to her as his first friend after leaving his position. His relationship with Ghost and the rest of the rebels is shakier, but they are trying his best to prove their loyalty. Daniel hates Wyn because of their traumatic past with him, but after they are forced to work together they eend up on slightly better terms.

Design Notes

AUs and Alternate Designs
Swap AU: In this AU, Daniel and Crystal swap roles, with Daniel being an ordinary schoolboy who doesn't realize that he actually has extraordinary powers.
Peculiar AU: Set in the universe of Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, Daniel has the ability to revive dead who haven't yet reached rigor mortis, but he cannot heal any existing wounds, so in cases of fatal injuries it only delays the inevitable.
